Carlos Alcaraz now has a higher career winning percentage than Roger Federer, following his latest victory at Indian Wells.

Alcaraz beat Cameron Norrie 6-3, 6-4 in the quarter-finals, earning himself a semi-final match-up with Daniil Medvedev.

Medvedev believes he can compete with Alcaraz, who has just made another big move in his career out in California.

Carlos Alcaraz surpasses Roger Federer’s career winning percentage

Among ATP players with at least 200 matches played in the Open Era, the Spaniard now has the fourth-best career winning percentage.

Alcaraz’s record stands at 296-65, which translates to a win rate of .8199. That puts him just ahead of Federer, who finished his career with a record of 1,251-275 and a win percentage of .8198.

Above Alcaraz are only Novak Djokovic (.8327), Rafael Nadal (.8259), and Bjorn Borg (.8238).

Carlos Alcaraz passes ‘tough’ Cameron Norrie test

He’ll now turn his attention to Daniil Medvedev, who recently knocked out Jack Draper, the defending champion. Draper’s run was a bright spot for British tennis, especially with Norrie also making it into the last eight.

Norrie has always been a difficult matchup for Alcaraz, and while the Spaniard got one back in Indian Wells after losing to him in Paris last year.

Speaking after their quarter-final meeting, Alcaraz admitted: “I struggle a lot with his style. Every time I play against him it’s always really tough for me.”

“It’s a little bit confusing with his style, his [heavy] topspin forehand, super high. And then the backhand, really flat and really low. Sometimes it’s tricky to play against him.

“I’m finding the right shot. I played well. I played solid. I played aggressive when I could. I’m happy to play this level.”

Norrie remains a challenging opponent despite being up 6-3 in their head-to-head battles. Against Medvedev, he holds an even stronger 6-2 lead, and their upcoming match will determine who faces Jannik Sinner or Alexander Zverev in the Indian Wells final.
