Apr. 13—REDWOOD FALLS — The Montevideo boys tennis team scored a 4-3 victory over Willmar on Saturday in the Redwood Valley triangular.
The Thunder Hawks then lost to the hosts 6-1. Redwood Valley also beat Willmar 7-0 to go 2-0 on the day.
Against Willmar, Montevideo scored victories at No. 1 and swept the doubles. At No. 1 Gabriel Lindeman beat Ryan Newberg 6-2, 6-4.
The doubles teams of Brady Baker and Chris Negen at No. 1, Fernando Chaves and Ben Baldwin at No. 2 and Brayden Johnson and Nolan Christopher at No. 3 all secured straight-set victories over Willmar.
Benson swept singles and got two of three points in doubles to beat the East Grand Forks Green Wave at Moorhead.
The closest call in the Braves’ victories was at No. 1 doubles. Isaac Carlson and Harold Habben beat Luke Hanson and Bauer Walter 3-6, 7-5, 10-6.
Minnewaska won every point except at No. 1 doubles to earn the victory over the Moorhead Spuds at Moorhead.
The Lakers’ No. 3 doubles team of Aidric Vold and Ethan Klick edged Moorhead’s Sam Ghaun and Jasper Etter 4-6, 7-6, 10-7.
Benson got singles wins from Alex Carlson at No. 1 and Bence Banoczky at No. 4 and victories at Nos. 1 and 3 doubles for the win at Moorhead.
The Braves’ No. 1 doubles team of Isaac Carlson and Harold Habben secured a 6-7 (2), 6-3, 10-4 win over Fi Kjos and Drew Hancock. Benson’s No. 3 doubles tandem of Cian Klucas and Brooks Groinus also won, beating Sam Dehmer and Sam Ghaun 6-3, 6-3.
Minnewaska singles players Tenzin Dahl at No. 1, Drew Bleick at No. 2 and Carter LeClair all secured victories to beat East Grand Forks at Moorhead.
Litchfield won three of four singles matches and two out of three doubles contests to beat Fairmont at St. James.
At No. 3 singles, the Dragons’ Max Grabow beat Leonardo Fortin 3-6, 7-6 (3), 1-0 (3) to capture the point.
Litchfield wound up going 3-0 in the tournament, also beating Winona Cotter 4-3 and St. James 5-2.
Litchfield earned victories at Nos. 1 and 4 singles and Nos. 2 and 3 doubles to slip past Winona Cotter at St. James.At No. 1 singles, the Dragons’ Lincoln Dille secured a 1-6, 6-2, 1-0 (6) victory over Logan Granseth.
Nos. 1, 2 and 3 singles and Nos. 1 and 2 doubles all picked up wins for Litchfield at St. James.
Litchfield’s No. 1 doubles team of Josh Blomberg and Matt Defries beat Dylan Reid and Caleb Fast 6-3, 3-6, 10-7 in the Dragons’ closest victory.
