One of the fastest players on the ATP Tour is Arthur Fils.

But does anyone have the speed to match the young Frenchman?

After reaching the quarter-finals of Indian Wells, Fils picked out seven players he would like to see run a 100-metre race.

Speaking to the Tennis Channel, Fils gave his views on who moves best around the court.

“We were talking a lot about making a race, 100 metres,” he revealed.

“Foki [Alejandro Davidovich Fokina], Giovanni [Mpetshi Perricard], Giovanni is crazy fast, I put myself, I put Ben [Shelton], and then someone else, Gael [Monfils], and we take Carlos [Alcaraz], Carlos is fast, and we see.

“Of course, [Alex] De Minaur, yes, he’s fast,” he continued.

Fils was surprised to hear from the interviewer that Reilly Opelka also considers himself one of the quickest players.

“Huh?” he responded. “Ok, then bring Reilly as well!”

“I think 40m I’d take myself, or Carlos, or Demon.

“But 100m, I’d say, Giovanni, I tell you, he’s very fast.”

Arthur Fils building momentum after long injury layoff

Fils struggled with injuries throughout the 2025 season.

After picking up an injury at Roland Garros, he only managed to play two more events before shutting things down for the year.

The Australian Open came too soon for him, so he made his return at the Open Occitanie in France instead.

He started off well, winning his first two matches back before falling to Felix Auger-Aliassime in the quarter-finals.

Fils then lost to De Minaur in Rotterdam but did not let it affect his confidence.

Instead, he went on a strong run at the Qatar Open, making it all the way to the final against Carlos Alcaraz.

Alcaraz won that match comfortably, but Fils had still put together an encouraging start to his comeback – reaching a final and two quarter-finals within his first four tournaments back.

Now fit again, Fils is starting to show why there was so much excitement around him early in his career. If he stays healthy, 2026 could be a breakout year.
