With the addition of 2003 US Open champion Andy Roddick, ESPN continues to refine its media presence at the tennis Grand Slams.
The Australian Open concluded last month amid a flurry of ESPN changes that involved the dismissal of former players Darren Cahill, Brad Gilbert, and Pam Shriver while Chris Eubanks and Sam Querrey filled the void.
Malika Andrews, best known for her coverage of the NBA, was tapped to be the studio analyst, a role that Chris McKendry maintained for years. McKendry was relegated to match coverage.

TBS has the French Open so ESPN is focusing on its Wimbledon staffing and reportedly signed a multi-year deal with Roddick for studio and match coverage.
This is a win-win for ESPN and tennis fans.
What Andy Roddick brings to the table
Roddick is the last American man to win a Grand Slam. He hosts the successful Served podcast that has soared in popularity. Years ago when FS1 was in its infancy, he was a media analyst there. He is also an occasional Tennis Channel contributor.

With his friendships and clout, Roddick is able to attract the legends of the game. He conducted an extensive interview with Rafael Nadal, the first lengthy discussion following his retirement. Roddick has also sat down with Andre Agassi.
Roddick is an excellent student of the game and will articulate the strategy well for the television viewer and recreational tennis fan watching from his or her couch.
