Alexandra Eala and Iva Jovic both made moves up the WTA rankings after their performances in the recent tournaments.

Both players featured at the Dubai Tennis Championships, a WTA 1000 event where Jessica Pegula took the title by beating Elina Svitolina in the final.

Jovic ran into Pegula in the round of 16, losing their all-American clash 6-4, 6-2, as the 31-year-old went on to win the tournament.

Eala’s run ended at the hands of Coco Gauff in a one-sided quarter-final, where she was beaten 6-0, 6-2.

Even though their Dubai campaigns did not go deep, both players hit career highs in the latest WTA standings.

Eala climbed to 31st in the world, while Jovic moved up to 18th, continuing their impressive rise through the ranks.

Eala is still only 20, while Jovic is just 18. Both players have been rising steadily and continue to show plenty of promise.

Jakub Mensik has also made headlines on the ATP side, reaching a new personal best of world number 13 at just 20 years old.

He reached the semifinals of the Qatar Open in Doha, where Carlos Alcaraz went on to claim another title.

Janice Tjen has also caught attention. The world number 36 recently became the first Indonesian woman ranked inside the Top 40 since way back in 1998.

Alexandra Eala celebrates new ranking as Iva Jovic prepares for next challenge

Eala has already expressed her excitement about the achievement, posting about her new ranking on social media.

She marked the occasion on her Instagram story with a simple message: “Touching 3!” accompanied by a few emojis.

Jovic, though, has not had much time to take it in. She is already shifting focus to the ATX Open in Austin.

The teenager enters the WTA 250 event as the second seed and will face Anna Blinkova in her opening match.

If she wins that, a second-round meeting with Venus Williams could be on the cards – provided Venus gets past Ajla Tomljanovic.

Jovic is also competing in doubles, pairing up with Mary Stoiana. They will start against Caty McNally and Kimberly Birrell.
