Alex de Minaur and Alexander Zverev are comfortably in the ATP Tour top 10, despite their inability to win a Grand Slam.

Alexander Zverev has become tennis’ nearly man, falling in three Grand Slam finals without claiming a major crown.

De Minaur, meanwhile, has become ‘Mr Consistent’ at Grand Slams, by reaching the quarter-finals and no further at each of the four major tournaments.

The pair are currently playing at Indian Wells, where they are looking for their first Masters title in California, and they have revealed the worst coaching advice they have ever received.

Alex de Minaur and Alexander Zverev’s worst coaching advice

Gill Gross quizzed several players about the worst coaching advice they have ever received and Zverev and de Minaur produced memorable answers.

The Australian instantly remarked: “Try and win this point. Of course, I’m trying to win this point! I’m trying to win every point. That doesn’t change!”

Zverev, meanwhile, was a little more serious with his response to the acclaimed American tennis journalist.

“Somebody tried to change my serve once and I listened to it and I was struggling for about a year and a half,” he said.

“I didn’t know how to serve anymore so that one. I’m not going to name names but that was probably the worst.”

Zverev has claimed 24 ATP titles in his career, while de Minaur recently claimed his 11th at the Rotterdam Open.
