Serena Williams’ coach Rennae Stubbs reacted after a journalist called out Vivek Ramaswamy’s claim of being a nationally ranked junior tennis player.

The claim that Ramaswamy was a nationally ranked junior tennis player appeared in several campaign profiles and online biographies, including Wikipedia, and became part of his public image during his political campaigns, especially during his run for Ohio governor. However, journalist Pablo Torre challenged Ramaswamy’s claim on his podcast, saying the USTA (United States Tennis Association) had no record of him being nationally ranked as a junior player. Instead, the USTA listed him at No. 48 in the boys’ under-16 Midwest regional rankings in its 2002 yearbook.

“We can bring in some reporting trying to fact-check this,” Torre said. “The US Tennis Association has no records of him being a nationally ranked junior tennis player, period. And when I reached out to the USA myself, they sent me every one of their yearbooks from the 1990s and the 2000s. And it is very clear based on these records, which they double checked for PTFO, that Ramaswamy was never noted to be nationally ranked. But his name does appear once not nationally but regionally in the 2002 yearbook when he finished according to the reporting now in front of you DJ and he finished uh number 48 in the boys 16 and under division of the Midwest section of the USA. Number 48 out of 50.”

After Torre uncovered the claims, Serena Williams’ coach reacted, writing:

“Also Pablo, the chances of him hitting a 120 mph serve IN THE COURT is zero.”

She also referred to Ramaswamy as a loser and added:

“Who lies about being ranked in juniors!! What a loser.”

Ramaswamy’s campaign has also included a now-deleted video filmed at a batting cage.

Serena Williams’ Coach Rennae Stubbs advises Carlos Alcaraz on what he needs to focus on amid his recovery from injury

Serena Williams’ coach Rennae Stubbs offered her opinion on what Carlos Alcaraz needs to improve before the 2027 season as he recovers from injury. She said Alcaraz’s wrist problems may stem from changes he made to his service technique, especially as he adapted Novak Djokovic’s style. She added that the changes may have added extra strain to his wrist.

“I think one of the reasons why he struggled so much with the wrist is because he changed his service motion and did the drop wrist like Novak Djokovic,” Stubbs said on The Rennae Stubbs Tennis Podcast. “I don’t know it for a fact, but I think these little changes took their toll on his wrist. So I think he is going to be struggling a little bit. I did say that at the US Open, even when he played with Serena [Williams], I thought his serve didn’t have as much pop.”

Serena Williams’ coach Rennae Stubbs also advised Alcaraz to use the off-season to improve his serve, especially on faster courts, which will help him win more Grand Slam titles next year.

“But I think, hopefully, for him, that will be something that he will be working on in the off-season, because he does need to improve the serve, particularly on a faster court. I think that is certainly a part of his game that he is going to have to improve if he wants to push Jannik [Sinner] when he makes it back and starts winning these Slams again.”

While Alcaraz made his return to court at the US Open, Serena Williams also made her highly anticipated comeback to tennis this year.
