We are just over one week away from the start of the 2026 US Open at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Queens, New York City, and there has been a major shake-up in the menâs bracket.
On Friday, August 21, World No. 1 Jannik Sinner announced that he has been forced to withdraw due to a knee injury. He shared the news in a brief statement on social media.
âEven though I have been working hard with my team and my medical staff, we have now had to make the difficult decision that I will not be able to compete at the US Open this year,â Sinner wrote on X. âWe have been back on court in Monte Carlo over the last couple of days and have realised that I still need more time to recover from my right knee issue.

âIâm obviously very sad and disappointed, as New York has a special place in my heart. I was very much looking forward to coming back and playing in the electric atmosphere in front of the great fans there.â

Sinner was a +125 favorite to win the tournament before his announcement, so now the oddsmakers had to shift their lines. Carlos Alcaraz, who was sitting at +175 with Sinner still in the field, is now an overwhelming +140 favorite, followed by Alexander Zverev at +300.
The US Open main draw starts on Sunday, August 30, 2026, with the menâs singles final set for Sunday, September 13.
How does the field stack up without Sinner in the way?
