List of Players Missing in Cincinnati Open 2026 Draw, Including Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner

Up next in the North American hard-court swing is the Cincinnati Open, the final pivotal proving ground before the US Open, the season’s last Grand Slam. Scheduled for August 13-23, this ATP Masters 1000 and WTA 1000 event in Ohio usually boasts star-studded draws. However, this year’s tournament will be missing several of the sport’s biggest names, including World No. 1 Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz. Here is a breakdown of the key players who will be missing Cincinnati.

WTA Tour

Karolina Muchova

The World No. 6 withdrew after undergoing a planned surgery shortly after finishing runner-up at Wimbledon, where she lost to Linda Noskova in the final. In an Instagram post following Wimbledon, Muchova stated she’d miss “a few weeks” but did not reveal the specifics of the surgery or whether she would be back for the US Open.

Victoria Mboko

The Canadian is missing the tournament after tearing her MCL at the HSBC Championships in June, a day after winning her opening-round doubles match with Serena Williams. Prior to her injury, she had a very promising 2026, reaching the finals in three events in Adelaide, Doha, and Strasbourg. Mboko also made it to the Top 10 in February.

Jasmine Paolini

Paolini is dealing with a left foot injury that also forced her to withdraw from the Mubadala DC Open and the Canadian Open. The world No. 15 will miss the chance to defend her points from her impressive run to the 2025 Cincinnati final, where she lost to Iga Świątek. She is aiming to be back for the US Open.

Emma Raducanu

The 2021 US Open champion pulled out of Cincinnati and New York due to a stress fracture in her leg, which also kept her out of Wimbledon. Her last match was at the HSBC Championships, where she was defeated by Donna Vekić in the final.

Hailey Baptiste

The American is officially on the withdrawal list, missing out on a major hard-court event on home soil. During the French Open, in the second-round match against Wang Xiyu, Baptiste landed awkwardly after hitting a forehand and had to leave the court in a wheelchair. It was later diagnosed as an ACL tear. A highlight of her 2026 season is reaching a career-high No. 25 ranking and defeating World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka in the Madrid Open quarterfinals.

Jacqueline Cristian

The Romanian had an injury on her right knee, which she sustained following a first-round exit at Wimbledon. The World No. 39 missed all the subsequent tournaments and underwent surgery in August.

Carlos Alcaraz

Alcaraz withdrew, as he is cautious about fully recovering from his right wrist injury, which sidelined him for over three months this year. The world No. 2 has not played a match since the Barcelona Open in April. However, he looks healthy from his recent hardcourt training clips. The Spaniard is expected to be back for the US Open, where he is the defending champion.

Jannik Sinner

The world No. 1 pulled out of Cincinnati due to a right knee injury. “I’m very disappointed not to be able to play in Cincinnati. I can’t wait to be back next year, and I’m now focusing on getting ready for the US Open,” the Italian said in his announcement. Sinner has dominated 2026, securing his fifth Grand Slam title at Wimbledon and winning five Masters 1000 titles.

Alexander Bublik

The World No. 11 withdrew from Cincinnati for a personal reason rather than an injury, choosing to stay home and celebrate his son Vasily’s birthday on August 16. Bublik has repeatedly prioritized the occasion, saying he does not believe the Cincinnati Masters is worth missing such an important family moment. He will return for the US Open.

Alejandro Davidovich Fokina

The former world No. 14 is also skipping the event. Last year, Davidovich Fokina reached the second round after receiving a first-round bye, where he was forced to retire against Brazilian teenager Joao Fonseca due to physical fatigue. After the tournament, he also criticized ATP scheduling on X when Sinner retired during his final match against Alcaraz. The Spaniard won his very first ATP Tour singles title this year on the grass courts of Mallorca.

Sebastian Korda

Korda is in recovery after undergoing a successful back surgery in early August. The American has not competed since he reached the fourth round at the Miami Open in March, where he also defeated Alcaraz in the Round of 32.

Holger Rune

The former World No. 4 is continuing his recovery from a ruptured Achilles tendon suffered last October during his Stockholm semifinal against Ugo Humbert, when he was leading 6-4, 2-2. The 23-year-old has also dealt with a knee issue this year, further delaying his comeback and keeping him out of competition since then. He is now targeting a return later in the year.

Ethan Quinn

Quinn withdrew due to a metatarsal injury in his right foot. The World No. 51 last competed at Wimbledon, where he lost to Japan’s Shintaro Mochizuki in the second round.
