Eala is now delivering another impressive campaign at the Canadian Open, and her attitude has earned her high praise from Danielle Collins.

No. 25 seed Eala has displayed impressive resilience during her campaign at the Canadian Open, beating Alycia Parks 6-1, 4-6, 6-2 in her opening match before securing a hard-fought 6-3, 5-7, 6-4 win over Caty McNally in the third round of the WTA 1000 event.
Amid her stellar run in Toronto, Danielle Collins shared her thoughts on Eala’s personality during an appearance on Tennis Channel. Contrasting Eala’s off-court demeanor with her own “fierce” personality, Collins expressed admiration for how the 21-year-old displayed a softer side after showcasing her competitive fire on the court.
“I just love how comfortable she is in her own skin. I love how genuinely kind she is. You know, for me, somebody that’s so fierce and so ferocious, I love seeing someone that’s a little bit different. She’s so ferocious when she’s playing on court, but then I just love the soft side of her as well. I really admire that,” Collins said.
Collins also showered praise on Eala for the genuine connection she has built with her passionate fans.
“And I love how she wears her heart on her sleeve and the way that she speaks about her fans. I think it’s just so genuine and the way that she connects with everyone. Yeah, there’s something just really special about her,” she added.
Steve Johnson echoed Collins’ sentiments, lauding the 21-year-old for her ability to gracefully navigate her immense popularity.
“It’s amazing to see what she’s doing at such a young age. To have command of her own emotions, the crowd, everything that comes with it, right. They’re moving her matches to Centre Court, she can’t play on the smaller courts anymore. So that’s a lot to take on as a young individual, but she’s doing it quite gracefully, and it’s really impressive to watch,” Johnson said.

With a place in the quarterfinals of the Canadian Open at stake, Alexandra Eala will take on No. 12 seed Belinda Bencic in the fourth round of the WTA 1000 event. The winner of their blockbuster encounter is set to face either No. 4 seed Coco Gauff or qualifier Alina Korneeva in the final eight.
