Noskovaâs loss proves that it is difficult to make the transition to hardcourt after winning Wimbledon and fulfilling all of the press and appearance obligations with a short turnaround.

Mubadala DC Open champion Taylor Fritz lost in his first round match on Wednesday. Top seed Alexander Zverev was also ousted.
Injured Felix Auger-Aliassime withdrew
Another heartbreak for the Canadian fans happened when Felix Auger-Aliassime was forced to withdraw before his opening match.
The Canadians have had rotten luck with Victoria Mboko, the defending champion, out of action. 2019 US Open champion Bianca Andreescu lost on Monday. Gabriel Diallo retired from his match with an injury.
Leylah Fernandez will be carrying the Canadian flag in singles and doubles, playing with her younger sister Bianca.

Top names out, anyone can win ATP crown
With Jannik Sinner, Carlos Alcaraz, and Novak Djokovic not playing and Zverev out in his opening match, this tournament is up for grabs on the ATP side.
Can Ben Shelton complete the Canada double that Jessica Pegula did a few years ago, winning in back-to-back years in a different city. The men are playing in Montreal this year, and the women are in Toronto.
