Nike recently unveiled Naomi Osaka’s outfit for the 2026 U.S. Open, and it quickly sparked mixed reactions from fans on social media.
Osaka was last seen in action at the Wimbledon Championships, where her campaign ended with a quarterfinal loss to Karolina Muchova on July 7. She is now competing at the Citi Open and is set to face Elisabetta Cocciaretto in the quarterfinals on Saturday at the John A. Harris Grandstand.
Amid this, Nike released the Japanese player’s black-and-grey kit for the U.S. Open, which is to be held from August 23 to September 13 at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York. The outfit quickly went viral on X and garnered mixed reactions from fans.
One user compared it to Aryna Sabalenka’s kit, writing:

In contrast to the above comment, a fan commented:

After suffering a 6-7(7), 4-6 loss to Karolina Muchova in the Wimbledon quarterfinals, Naomi Osaka addressed the media in the post-match press conference, where she reflected on the showdown. Calling it a ‘tough’ match for her, she admitted that the loss was disappointing but said she was taking plenty of positives from her campaign.
“I mean, it was a really tough match for me, but I think I can try to find positives in that, and that’s kind of my mindset. I mean, tournament as a whole, it’s the furthest I’ve gotten here. So, for me, that’s a positive. Obviously, I would have loved to get a lot farther. But as of today, like if I think about my match today, it’s really hard for me to immediately think of something positive,” said Naomi Osaka.
She added:
“I feel like it’s hard ’cause I played so well in my last match, and then today I just feel like I didn’t play well at all and I didn’t have any energy. So, I mean, the score was pretty good for what it was.”
Naomi Osaka will be partnering with Kei Nishikori in the U.S. Open mixed doubles tournament.
