Fans react to Iga Swiatek’s unusual training exercise

Polish tennis player, Iga Swiatek, is the WTA World No. 8 ranked player. At 25, she is a former World No. 1, winner of six Grand Slams, 25 titles, and the 2024 Paris Olympics bronze medalist.

Swiatek enters the hardcourt as the reigning Cincinnati Open champion and US Open mixed doubles finalist (with Casper Ruud).

She shared a recent training video as she prepares for hardcourt play. The training exercise was atypical, and fans had plenty to say about it.

Swiatek trains with water weight on her back

Instead of a weight vest, Swiatek has a tube of water, hoisted on her back.

One fan wondered: “She’s super-fit, but how does this help Iga keep the ball inside the lines more often??”

Another said: “Why did he makes Iga do weird and tiring exercise”

Someone else noted that Swiatek’s recent issues have not been related to fitness saying: “People criticize Świątek for not delivering mentally in matches. Her team—let’s show how she runs around the court with an aquarium on her back”

With the video, Swiatek asked followers to guess how much weight was on her back. She later revealed it was 10 liters which would be the equivalent to approximately 22 pounds of water.

Swiatek’s 2026 season

She started the year well helping Team Poland win the United Cup.

Since then, she has struggled and was not able to defend her Wimbledon title.

Swiatek has made coaching changes several times in recent years as well as service motion tweaks.

She trains so hard but seems to mentally stress out in tough spots during matches. If she could figure out a way to let go of all of that mental baggage, her game would rebound.
