Which WTA players have the most social media followers?

Social media is a tool that professional athletes, including WTA tennis stars, use to communicate directly with their fanbases.

There is no reporter or middleman to misinterpret or misquote the player when she is writing her own posts.

Here are the top five WTA players in terms of Instagram followers in descending order. Spoiler alert: each one has won at least one Grand Slam singles title and three have won Grand Slam doubles titles.

5. Coco Gauff: 2.4 million

Some may be surprised that Coco Gauff is only fifth. One possible reason is that she is known to take breaks from social media from time to time. Gauff outshines her American compatriots who have not crossed the million mark yet: Amanda Anisimova (508K), Taylor Townsend (391K), Jessica Pegula (370K), Madison Keys (356K), and Iva Jovic (299K).

4. Emma Raducanu: 2.9 million

Ever since capturing the 2021 US Open, her only career WTA title, as a qualifier, Emma Raducanu has attracted a lot of interest in the tennis world.

Raducanu has had a tumultuous time in the five years since going from obscurity to Grand Slam champion. Injuries and coaching changes have been the only constants for her. There is always Raducanu news, including her 2026 switch from Nike to Uniqlo, which explains her large following.

3. Naomi Osaka: 3.2 million

Naomi Osaka has used her social media platform to communicate more freely with her fans. The four-time Grand Slam champion was not always a fan of press conferences so speaking with fans directly appeals to her. Since becoming a mother and sharing her love of fashion, her list of followers has grown.

2. Aryna Sabalenka: 5.5 million

No surprise that WTA World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka is high on the list of social media followers. Her charismatic, fun-loving personality is contagious in her social media dances and life updates.

1. Serena Williams: 17.8 million

The greatest WTA player of all time is also the top social media draw. Serena Williams has nearly three times the number of followers than Sabalenka proving that her success on the court, a four year retirement filled with family life updates, and a return to the court in 2026 are very interesting to her followers.
