Watch tennis legend Rafael Nadal celebrate Spain’s FIFA World Cup final victory

Spain won their second World Cup title with a 1-0 victory over Argentina in the final at MetLife Stadium.

Spain were by far the best team in the final and throughout the tournament, thoroughly deserving their success.

For a proud footballing nation that has produced many world-class players, it is difficult to believe that they have won just two World Cups.

This made the victory taste even sweeter, with thousands in the stadium and millions back home celebrating into the night.

Among those were tennis legend Rafael Nadal, who posted a video of himself celebrating Spain’s success on social media.

22-time Grand Slam champion Rafael Nadal is a huge football fan, supporting Real Madrid, Mallorca, and the Spanish national team.

Nadal’s uncle, Miguel Angel, even made 62 appearances for Spain, playing in three World Cups and one Euros.

Rafa is also considered an excellent football player who could have gone professional if he had not chosen tennis.

Having attended the 2010 World Cup final in South Africa, in which Spain beat the Netherlands, Nadal watched the 2026 final privately.

However, he still showcased his passionate celebrations on social media after Spain’s 1-0 victory over Argentina.

Meanwhile, Nadal’s protege, Carlos Alcaraz, was spotted in the stands at MetLife Stadium for the World Cup final.

Tennis journalist Bastien Fachan also highlighted an interesting coincidence involving Nadal, Alcaraz and the Spanish team.

Nadal (2010) and Alcaraz (2026) both completed the career Grand Slam in tennis in the same year that Spain won the World Cup.
