Jannik Sinner dismantled Novak Djokovic on Friday to secure his spot in a second successive Wimbledon final.
The Italian delivered a sublime performance on serve, and Serena Williams’ coach Rennae Stubbs opened up about one important factor that she believed led to his impressive performance.
Rennae Stubbs Reveals Jannik Sinner’s Winning Formula After Dominant Showing Against Novak Djokovic
Sinner produced one of his best displays at Wimbledon to see off the challenge of Djokovic in a blockbuster semifinal on Friday. The 24-year-old did not seem to put a foot wrong on his serve, allowing Djokovic just one break-point opportunity, which the Serb failed to convert.
In addition, Sinner fired 16 aces and won 88% of his first serve points and 62% of his second serve points to register a dominant 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 win and set up a Wimbledon final against Alexander Zverev.
Stubbs revealed she watched Sinner’s practice session on Thursday, where the four-time Grand Slam champion focused on his serve for close to an hour. She offered further insight into how important attention to detail is for success in tennis.
“Was on the practice court yesterday next to Jannik, and he must’ve served for a minimum of 30/40 minutes. It’s obvious that he knew how important the serve was today. He’s reaping the benefits of that work. You don’t get great by being lazy and not having attention to the details to win,” Stubbs wrote on X.
After a disappointing early exit at the French Open, Sinner appears to be back to his best. He hasn’t dropped a single set since being pushed to five sets by Miomir Kecmanović in the first round.
Djokovic had beaten Sinner when they met at the Australian Open semifinals in January but looked unusually vulnerable at times on Friday. Defeat means that the 39-year-old’s wait for a record 25th Grand Slam title continues.

Next up for Jannik Sinner is another meeting with Zverev in the Wimbledon final. The reigning Wimbledon champion holds a 10-4 head-to-head lead and has already beaten the German four times this year. However, Zverev is in the form of his life after finally ending his Grand Slam drought at the French Open.
So the stage is set for a fascinating contest between two of the best players in men’s tennis at present on the iconic Center Court on Sunday.
