Coco Gauff is enjoying a career-best run at Wimbledon and has made the semifinals of the Grand Slam for the first time in her career.

As she prepares to face the in-form Karolína Muchová in the semifinals at the All England Club, Gauff provided an update on her father’s forced absence from the Major.

Coco Gauff Reveals Reason for Her Father Missing Her Wimbledon Matches

Gauff’s father, Corey, has played a major role in her tennis career. The former college basketball player served as her coach during the early stages of her career and has been a constant fixture in her player’s box at Grand Slams alongside his wife, Candi.

However, he is being forced to miss the 2026 Wimbledon Championships. But not without good reason. Coco Gauff revealed after her quarterfinal win over Jessica Pegula that her father is helping her brother, Codey, move as he gets ready to play baseball for the Missouri Tigers.

“I actually don’t know where exactly he is. He’s either in Missouri or Florida right now. My brother is now going to college. So he’s been up there for a few days, helping him move in, and my brother’s car is supposed to be shipped, but that didn’t work. So I don’t know if my dad’s going to have to drive. He’s not here with me right now. I think this is the first Slam he’s missed in I don’t know how long,” she said on the Tennis Channel.

Gauff also spoke about how her father has been giving her advice from afar and shared her appreciation for it.

“Dads have to do the dirty work sometimes. But he’s been helping me. He’s been giving me advice, watching me every match. So I’m appreciative of the support from afar,” she added.

When asked whether her father would join her if she reached the final, Gauff said, “Yeah, it’s something we talked about. I don’t know if he will or won’t come. I don’t want to know. So I guess we’ll see if I get to the final, and after the match I see him there, then I know he’s there, and if not, then I know he’s home.”

The 22-year-old has battled her way into the Wimbledon semifinals despite arriving at the tournament short of form after slipping to seventh in the WTA rankings. She also considered grass her least successful surface but has turned things around at the All England Club with her unorthodox style, dragging opponents into long rallies.

Next up for the two-time Grand Slam champion is a Wimbledon semifinal against Muchová, who is currently on a nine-match winning streak. Gauff has already beaten the Czech star twice in their three matches this year but will be wary of the variety she has in her shots when the two go head-to-head on Thursday.
