After a five-set thriller between Novak Djokovic and Félix Auger-Aliassime in the quarterfinals of the Wimbledon Championships, the Serb’s wife heaped praise on the Canadian for being a role model to their children.

Jelena Djokovic said that Auger-Aliassime had a lot to be proud of and shared that their entire family would be cheering him on in the future.

Djokovic defeated Auger-Aliassime in a match that lasted 5 hours and 15 minutes on Tuesday, triumphing 7-6(10), 3-6, 6-3, 6-7(4), 7-6(4) to book his spot in the semifinals. While the chase for a first-ever Wimbledon semifinal ended in heartbreak for the third seed, he received an uplifting message of support from the 24-time Grand Slam champion’s wife on Wednesday.

Auger-Aliassime reflected on his Wimbledon campaign in an Instagram post and promised to use it as fuel for future success.

“In the process of trying to digest this loss, I find myself using it as fuel to bring myself back to moments like this again. The greatest improvements I can make will come from competing in matches like this, experiencing emotions like this and learning from them until I eventually come out on the other side,” he captioned his post.

In the comments section, Jelena praised Auger-Aliassime while pointing out the harsh reality of competition.

“You were incredible last night, Felix. Our kids adore you, and you are a wonderful role model. One had to come out as a winner in that match, but there is so much to be proud of. We will be cheering for you,” she wrote.

It was once again a case of so close, yet so far, for Auger-Aliassime at the 2026 Wimbledon Championships. However, the 25-year-old can take encouragement from reaching the quarterfinals of a Grand Slam for the sixth time. He continues to edge closer to a breakthrough, with his best US Open performances coming in 2021 and 2025, when he advanced to the semifinals on both occasions.
