Jessica Pegula is now 8-0 against her American WTA counterparts in 2026.
The eighth win came against Iva Jovic at Wimbledon on Sunday. Jovic won the first set, forcing Pegula to dig deep and win the final two.
Pegula has been flying under the radar at Wimbledon this year. Her play has been high level, and she is among a crowded pool of American women who are competitive at every Grand Slam.

Pegula is into the Wimbledon QF for the second time
She awaits the winner of the Coco Gauff and Belinda Bencic fourth round match.
Pegula has not played Gauff in 2026 but won their last match at the 2025 WTA Finals.

She defeated the other remaining American in the draw, Madison Keys, on her way to the Berlin Open final.

Is Pegula the best current WTA player never to win a Grand Slam
Tennis fans can make the argument for Pegula.
Maiden Grand Slam champions, Keys and Mirra Andreeva, have been crowned in the past two years.
Gauff, Keys, Naomi Osaka, and Aryna Sabalenka are the only Grand Slam champions left in the Wimbledon singles draw. Osaka and Sabalenka play for a quarterfinal spot so one will be eliminated on Sunday.
Bencic and Karolina Muchova are in the draw. In addition to Pegula, arguments could be made for both being among the best in todayâs era of womenâs tennis to not win a Grand Slam.
