Alexander Zverev has finally captured his first Grand Slam title, beating Flavio Cobolli in the Roland Garros final.
The German had lost all three of his previous Grand Slam finals but found a way through this time, holding off Cobolli 6-1, 4-6, 6-4, 6-7(5), 6-1 on Philippe Chatrier.
After more than four hours on court, Zverev pulled away late in the fifth set to clinch a long-awaited first major title.
And at age 29, he joins an exclusive list of menâs singles champions at Roland Garros.

According to OptaAce, Zverev has now become just the fourth player to win titles across all four major ATP levels: Grand Slams, Masters 1000s, the ATP Tour Finals, and the Olympics.
The only other players to achieve this are Andre Agassi, Andy Murray and Novak Djokovic.
Zverev had come up short in three previous finals â the US Open in 2020, Roland Garros in 2024 and the Australian Open in 2025.
But heâs finally broken through with a Grand Slam title, while Cobolli can take pride in his best showing at this level yet.
Zverev claims his first Grand Slam title at Roland Garros
In a five-set epic, Zverev finally broke through to win his first Grand Slam, adding another chapter to an already impressive career. The German had previously come up short in the finals of the US Open (2020), Roland Garros (2024), and the Australian Open (2025).
But at 29, he can now call himself a Grand Slam champion, while Cobolli just enjoyed his best-ever run at that level.
The Italian had never advanced past the third round of a Grand Slam before this tournament and came into it ranked as low as world number 28. The German has since offered some classy words for Cobolli following their five-set marathon on Sunday evening.
Zverev was made to work hard for every point against Flavio Cobolli and even found himself down by a break early in the decider.
