Naomi Osaka silently on career best run at 2026 French Open

Week 1 of the 2026 French Open has produced great tennis, and Naomi Osaka is part of the discussion, along with her incredible fashion.

Osaka has never advanced to the second week of the French Open but does it with a solid three-set win over American Iva Jovic.

Earlier in her career, Osaka did not like the clay. Her four Grand Slams are on the hardcourts of Melbourne and New York. Is there a French Open title in her future?

‘Clayomi’ Osaka is competing at a high level

Osaka is a former World No. 1 who came back from maternity leave to compete in the latter rounds of Grand Slams.

The 28-year-old was probably envisioning those tournaments to be the Australian and US Open. Two years ago, she came very close to defeating eventual champion Iga Swiatek at Roland Garros.

Last year, she won a WTA Challenger clay court event, and the Clayomi era officially began.

Her skills will be tested in the fourth round against the winner of the Aryna Sabalenka and Daria Kasatkina match.

Osaka seems to be in a good place mentally and physically. Her fashion statements are an outlet for her to express herself in ways that words do not. It is worth noting that she has altered the look for each round, following the black ensemble in the first round.

Her fashion and personality continue to evolve. She seems at peace with how her career has unfolded post childbirth, something that did not seem to be true earlier on. Osaka was among the first to talk about mental health struggles, and she is kinder to herself on the court when she makes errors.
