Jannik Sinner knocked out of French Open after health concerns surfaced.

Jannik Sinner is out of the French Open after a tough loss in the second round, with the world number one clearly affected by the conditions at Roland Garros.

The Italian had been tipped to go far, but ended up losing to Juan Manuel Cerundolo in a match that lasted five sets.

Sinner had been in control early on, going up two sets, but things took a turn when he started having physical issues during the third set. He did take a medical timeout but didn’t seem to recover, eventually falling 3-6, 2-6, 7-5, 6-1, 6-1.

Sinner was clearly feeling it at Roland Garros on Thursday. Sinner wasn’t the only player talking about the heat. Naomi Osaka also spoke about how she was handling it this year.

Naomi Osaka responds to questions about the conditions at Roland Garros

Osaka secured her spot in the third round of Roland Garros with a straight-sets win over Donna Vekic.

Asked about the heat during her post-match press conference, the Japanese star said: “Honestly, I use the ice towel, but I had the habit of using the ice towel the first day.

“I don’t think it was as hot as the first match that I played but I kind of like it. I kind of want them to turn it up a little bit!

“I like the feeling of working hard and sweating. For me, it is something that I am very comfortable with.”

Osaka will face 18-year-old Iva Jovic in their first-ever meeting in her next match.

Naomi Osaka has a chance to achieve her best-ever result at Roland Garros

Osaka has yet to drop a set so far in her campaign at Roland Garros, with wins over Laura Siegemund and Vekic.

She has now matched her career-best finish at the tournament, having made the third round three times before.

Her last trip to the third round came in 2019, when she lost in straight sets to Katerina Siniakova. Osaka will now have the chance to reach the fourth round of Roland Garros for the first time ever.

The world number one had just reached her highest ever ranking following consecutive Grand Slam finals appearances at Wimbledon and US Open last year.
