Sloane Stephens will have two jobs at Roland Garros

2018 French Open finalist Sloane Stephens, who was one set away from winning a Roland Garros title before Simona Halep launched a comeback, will be doubly busy in Paris this year.

Stephens won her three qualifying matches to make the main draw. She did not play at last year’s French Open as she was recuperating from a foot injury.

Stephens’s face lit up with her megawatt smile after the win. After the 3-6, 6-2, 6-1 win, she thanked tennis fans for filling the stands for her three qualifying matches and cheering for her.

What else will Stephens be doing

In addition to playing, Stephens is part of the TNT Sports broadcasting team covering the French Open. This is the second year TNT Sports has the broadcasting rights.

She filled a variety of roles last year including as a courtside reporter and in studio for analysis.

With players limiting their French Open media availability to 15 minute interviews and could potentially not doing extra press outside of Media Day and courtside interviews (to avoid fines) in protest of their revenue share at Roland Garros, Stephens will be in an interesting position as a member of both parties.

The 33-year-old Florida native has not indicated what she will do when her tennis playing career concludes, but broadcasting is a viable option.

She is an entrepreneur and philanthropist so opportunities exist for her in many walks of life.

The French Open draw will be released later in the day on May 21 so Stephens will not have to wait long to find out who her first opponent will be in the Round of 128 with play beginning on Sunday, May 17.
