Corentin Moutet’s vulgar response to losing a point goes viral

French tennis player Corentin Moutet, who achieved a career high World No. 30 ATP ranking in April, had an unusual and inappropriate reaction to losing a point after a lengthy rally at the Hamburg Open.

The 27-year-old Moutet dropped his pants and showed the crowd his underwear. That reaction only merited a warning from the chair umpire.

It is a surreal and unbelievable reaction. Somewhere his mother and family members are probably shaking their heads wondering why he did it.

More importantly, that seems like it merited a more severe penalty.

Fans react

Some thought he should have been disqualified.

Others think it is a testament to how much pressure tennis players feel.

More said it was a flagrant action in a sport that usually employs a lot of decorum.

Same penalty as throwing a racquet

Throwing or beating up a racquet tends to be a popular reaction, and it gets the same punishment.

The lingering question is whether he will get a fine.

Moutet went on to lose the match 4-6, 4-6 to Alejandro Davidovich Fokina.

He has yet to win an ATP title in ten years since turning pro. We are almost afraid to see what he does if and when that happens.
