Grigor Dimitrov is one of the ATP players aiming to secure a place in the Roland Garros main draw, as qualifying rounds are now underway.

Once ranked as high as number three in the world, Dimitrov has dropped to 170th after a difficult spell.

A pectoral injury was a major setback, but he’s now looking to turn things around and get back on track.

The road ahead doesn’t look easy, though. The draw for Roland Garros qualifying hasn’t been kind, and he could struggle to make it through.

Among the most recognisable names in the men’s singles qualifying draw, Dimitrov opens against Jaime Faria. Faria, ranked 119th in the world and seeded 10th in qualifying, comes into the match as a rising player with a career-high ranking of 87.

If Dimitrov advances, he will take on either Colton Smith or Alvaro Guillen Meza next. The Bulgarian would then need one more win to secure a spot in the main draw.

Possible third-round opponents include Alejandro Moro Canas, Stefano Napolitano, Lukas Neumayer, and Alex Bolt.

David Goffin is also trying to reach the main draw. The six-time ATP champion and former world number seven enters as a wildcard and faces Tseng Chun-hsin in his opening match. Tseng is currently ranked 169th.

Bianca Andreescu and Sloane Stephens are among the notable names in the Roland Garros qualifying

The women’s qualifying draw at Roland Garros also features a number of familiar faces, with several big names looking to book their place in the main event.

Among them is 2019 US Open champion Bianca Andreescu, who opens her campaign against Daphnee Mpetshi Perricard, the sister of ATP player Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard.

Sloane Stephens, another former US Open winner, will face compatriot Carol Young Suh Lee in her opening match.

Meanwhile, former world number one Karolina Pliskova is also part of the qualifying field. The Czech player starts her bid for a main draw spot against Yeonwoo Ku.
