Taylor Fritz is set to return to the court next week at the Geneva Open.
He hasnât played since Miami, where he hinted at skipping the entire clay season due to ongoing knee tendinitis.
So far, he had stuck with that plan, missing out on Monte Carlo, Madrid and Rome.
But now, with his name in both the Geneva and French Open draws, it looks like heâll be playing some clay after all. This will be his first appearance in nearly two months.
Geneva Open draw revealed for Taylor Fritz
Fritz is set to return to the Geneva Open for a fourth straight year, this time as the top seed.
The world number seven reached the semifinals last year, marking his best showing at the event so far, and heâll be looking to go one step further this time around.
Despite being seeded first, Fritz doesnât have a straightforward path. Itâs his first event back after nearly two months away from competition.
Heâll start in the second round thanks to an automatic bye and could face Alexei Popyrin, a former Masters 1000 champion, right out of the gate.
In the quarterfinals, Fritz might run into Casper Ruud, who recently reached the final of the Italian Open. Other players who could pose challenges include Alexander Bublik and Cameron Norrie.
Previous winners of the Geneva Open from 2015 to 2024
The Geneva Open may be an ATP 250 event, but it has still managed to attract some big names over the years.
None bigger than Novak Djokovic, who claimed his 100th career title there just last year, defeating Hubert Hurkacz in the final.
Casper Ruud has also made a mark on the tournament, becoming its most successful player with three titles in four years. Other notable champions include Stan Wawrinka and Alexander Zverev.
This yearâs edition of the Geneva Open will begin on Sunday, May 17th. Taylor Fritz will be looking to add his name to that list as he returns to action for the first time since March.
