Former WTA World No. 1 and two-time Australian Open ladiesâ singles champion Victoria Azarenka has been MIA since last yearâs US Open.
The 36-year-old Belarusian tennis star has not addressed her prolonged absence from the WTA Tour. She has not said if she is retired, injured, or just taking a break. With 640 career singles wins and 21 WTA titles, the future Hall of Famerâs ranking has quietly slipped outside of the Top 100.
Her biggest pride and joy in recent years has been motherhood. Azarenka is a single mom to son Leo who has sometimes appeared on court with her after her wins. Thatâs why we should not be overly surprised that her first social media post since New Yearâs Eve came on Motherâs Day.

What Azarenka said
She wrote: âBeing a mother is the greatest privilege of my life. Happy Motherâs Dayâ
Leo will be nine years old later this year so Azarenka is enjoying motherhood at a fun age right now. Presumably Leo is fully immersed in school and extracurricular activities.
Perhaps that is why she is not playing tennis, but fans really miss her and want to know if she is coming back.

Odds of an Azarenka return
The longer time goes without a word from her on a possible return lessens the likelihood we will see her on a competitive tennis court again.
In singles, doubles, mixed doubles at Grand Slams or Olympic competition, Azarenka has enjoyed the biggest wins on all surfaces.
Her greatest singles successes have come at the Australian Open. Could we see an Azarenka return in late 2026 or early 2027? Letâs hope so. She may not want a prolonged farewell tour, but fans would love to see her on the court for a few tournaments to give her props for an exemplary career.
