Auburn women’s tennis defeats Miami in a shutout on Saturday, May 2, to advance to the NCAA Super Regional for the second consecutive.
The 2026 women’s tennis team continues to add its spot in the program’s history books with its advancement to the NCAA Super Regional, marking the sixth time the Tigers have achieved this feat. On Saturday, the Tigers shut out the Hurricanes 4-0 in the second round of the NCAA tournament.
âWe had our best doubles point of the year. Everyone was aggressive and going after their shots,” Auburn head coach Jordan Szabo said. “For us to win five first sets in singles was a really good thing, and it was a very impressive day for everyone. Merna (Refaat) was out there fighting and building a lead in the second set, which was huge for us. DJ (Bennett) played a girl who has only lost twice all year, and she was in a commanding position. I really think the difference for us was that we had an amazing crowd, and weâll need that again next weekend.â
This is the second straight year for Auburn to make it to the Super Regional under head coach Jordan Szabo. He has led the Tigers to a perfect home record of 21-0 and an overall season record of 34-3. The No. 1 Tigers’ next opponent will be No. 15 Duke Blue Devils at the Yarbrough Tennis Center. The date and time are yet to be announced, and the attendance of the match will be free entry to the public.
