Mirra Andreeva reveals if she will ever play doubles with Victoria Mboko again

Mirra Andreeva’s had a strong start to the clay-court season, coming off a title win at Linz and carrying that momentum into Stuttgart.

After her success in Austria, where she became only the third woman this year to win more than one WTA title, Andreeva picked up right where she left off.

The 18-year-old opened her campaign in Stuttgart by knocking out defending champion Jelena Ostapenko. It’s just another example of why many have tipped her as one of the top young players in the game.

Andreeva has been talked about as a future star for some time now, often mentioned alongside Canadian prospect Victoria Mboko. She’s not alone in getting attention this early, with both players already building reputations beyond their age group.

Earlier this year, they teamed up in doubles at the Brisbane International and made it all the way to the quarter-finals. It was a short run but enough to get people talking about their potential as a pair.

Speaking after her win over Ostapenko in Stuttgart, Andreeva was asked whether she had any plans to play doubles with Victoria Mboko again, following their stint in Brisbane earlier this year.

“Yeah, well, I texted her [Mboko], and at first she told me that she was set,” Andreeva said. “I don’t remember where I texted her first, and she was set already for that tournament. I was like ‘okay, we’ll play next time.’

“I asked her again for Indian Wells and Miami. She said, ‘I’m set for Indian Wells,’ but we can play Miami though.

“But then later on she came back and said she wasn’t actually set for either one in the end.”

Andreeva continued: “For Madrid and Rome, I’m playing with Diana [Shnaider] again. We’ve played together before and know each other pretty well.

“But beyond that, nothing’s locked in. I just go with whoever feels right at the time – someone I get along with on court.”

Staying with Stuttgart Open news – Mirra Andreeva faces American Alycia Parks in the third round.

The Russian won their only previous meeting convincingly at the 2025 US Open.

If Andreeva wins this match against Parks, she will face world No 1 Swiatek in what promises to be an exciting matchup between two of the most talented players on tour.

Mirra Andreeva has won two of her three matches against Swiatek on the WTA Tour.

The pair first met at the 2024 Cincinnati Open. Swiatek emerged victorious from the quarter-final contest, beating Andreeva 4-6, 6-3, 7-5.

Andreeva has won both of their last two contests: at the 2025 Dubai Tennis Championships and 2025 Indian Wells.

After defeating Swiatek 7-6, 1-6, 6-3 in Indian Wells, Andreeva told reporters: “Yes, it was a really tough match, tough conditions. I tried to really hang in there.

“It was not easy, but I’m just super happy with the win today, and I can’t wait to play finals on Sunday.”

Andreeva went on to win the title after defeating Aryna Sabalenka in straight sets.
