Jakub Mensik is now joined by three more ATP stars in Munich Open withdrawal list

After the Monte-Carlo Masters, the next stop on the ATP Tour calendar features two 500-level tournaments leading into Madrid.

Those events are the Barcelona Open and Munich Open, where Holger Rune and Alexander Zverev currently hold the titles. Zverev is still set to compete in Munich, but that event has already lost Jakub Mensik to injury.

The Czech player, who beat world number two Jannik Sinner earlier this year in Doha, is dealing with a foot infection and won’t be able to play.

Since Mensik’s withdrawal, three more notable names have also dropped out of Munich.

More high-profile names drop out of Munich Open

Journalist Jose Morgado has reported on X that Taylor Fritz, Sebastian Korda and Jiri Lehecka have all withdrawn from the Munich Open, joining Mensik on the sidelines.

Fritz, who has been dealing with a knee problem for some time now, last played at the Miami Open, where he was knocked out in the round of 16.

Korda missed Monte-Carlo following his surprise win over Carlos Alcaraz in Miami.

Lehecka was also in action at Monte-Carlo but went out in the third round to Alexander Bublik.

The field still features plenty of recognisable names, including Ben Shelton, Joao Fonseca, Marin Cilic and Flavio Cobolli.

Zverev set for only title defence of the season in Munich

Alexander Zverev’s lone title defence of the 2026 season will come at the Munich Open, where he lifted his only trophy of last year.

The German’s win came on home soil, where he dropped just one set during a run that stood out in an otherwise disappointing year.

On his way to the final, Zverev picked up wins over Tallon Griekspoor and Fabian Marozsan before facing Ben Shelton in the championship match.

Zverev sealed a straight-sets victory over Shelton, winning 6-2, 6-4 to claim his 24th career title on the ATP Tour.
