It was the first time in 10 years an ATP top 10 player has been ‘double bageled’ and only the fifth time since ATP rankings started in 1973.
Medvedev – also a three-time Australian Open finalist – has been in form through in 2026, particularly through the US swing, winning the Brisbane International and ATP Dubai, while reaching he final of the Indian Wells Masters.
However, clay is arguably his worst surface, having reached the French Open quarter-finals once, but losing in the first round on six occasions.
He has also failed to make the quarter-finals of the Monte Carlo Masters the last three years.
Medvedev will likely continue his preparation for the French Open in the Madrid Masters, which commences on April 20.
