Jannik Sinner hits the practice court with promising young talent in Monte Carlo

Jannik Sinner will resume his Monte Carlo campaign on Thursday, where he’ll face either Francisco Cerundolo or Tomas Machac.

The Italian, who has a chance to reclaim the world number one ranking from Carlos Alcaraz this week, kicked off his tournament with a 6-3, 6-0 win over Ugo Humbert on Tuesday.

Sinner looks to have picked up right where he left off during the American hard-court swing. He won an impressive 91 percent of points on his first serve against Humbert, showcasing his consistency early in the clay season.

Before stepping onto court for his third-round match, Sinner was spotted getting in some practice at the Monte-Carlo Country Club.

He wasn’t alone either. Joining him was a player many believe could soon join him and Alcaraz at the top of the ATP Tour.

Jannik Sinner links up with Moise Kouame for Monte Carlo training session

Sinner hit the practice courts on Wednesday, joining forces with 17-year-old Moise Kouame for just under an hour’s work.

The two spent time exchanging forehands and backhands across the court before focusing on their volleys. They wrapped up their session together by drilling serves and returns.

Kouame then headed off, but Sinner stayed back to sharpen his serve and put in some extra work on his drop shots.

Kouame had already exited the tournament, having fallen in the opening round to Ugo Humbert, who went on to face Sinner later in the week.

Despite that early exit, Kouame has had some remarkable moments recently. He became the youngest male player ever to win a match at Miami, breaking Rafael Nadal’s record set back in 2003.

Moise Kouame credits his mother as one of his ‘biggest inspirations’

Kouame, who trained with Gael Monfils in the build-up to Monte Carlo, spoke about the role his family has played in shaping his career.

“My mom has also been one of the biggest inspirations in life for me,” he told the Monte Carlo Masters website.

“She has been through difficult situations and now she’s here in Monte Carlo with her son playing one of the biggest tournaments on the calendar.

“Also my brother, because he was the one who introduced me to tennis. My dad and my sister, of course. My family is my support, my base.”

Kouame will now turn his focus to the Santa Margherita di Pula Futures tournament in Italy after losing to Humbert in Monaco.
