DURHAM – The Portsmouth High School girls tennis team opened its Division II season on Monday, April 6 with a 9-0 sweep over Seacoast rival Oyster River.
“Nice first outing,” Portsmouth head coach Wendy Poutre said. “Oyster River gave us some good competitive matches, especially at the top.”
Avery Porter (No. 1, 8-4), Aia Tracz (No. 2, 9-7), Elyse White (No. 3, 8-2), Anna Syphers (No. 4, 8-0), Aoife Ryan (No. 5, 8-1) and Ailish Honda (No. 6, 8-0) all won their respective singles matches for the Clippers.
In doubles, Porter and White won 8-4 at No. 1, Tracz and Syphers won 8-0 at No. 2, and Ryan and Honda won 8-3 at No. 3.

DURHAM – Jiles Tracz (No. 1, 8-4), Amitay Hay-Tenne (No. 2, 8-2), Hillel Hay Tenne (No. 3, 8-3), Jackson French (No. 5, 8-6) and Jullian Brousseau (No. 6, 8-3) all won in singles for Portsmouth in its season-opening Division II match.
In doubles, Tracz and Amitay Hey Tenne won 8-4 at No. 1, Hillel Hay-Tenne and Brandon Ganev won 8-0 at No. 2, and French and Gerardo Navarro-Manchego won 8-2 at No. 3.
Oyster River’s Ian Johnson won 8-6 at No. 5 singles.

SOUTH BERWICK, Maine – Jack Goodrich had goals and one assist, and Reed Kenney had three goals and five assists for Berwick Academy (2-0).
Ebbin Perkins, Preston Randell, and Cole Cournoyer all had three goals for Berwick, while Liam Quinn had two, and Aiden Lalley and Jack Lorden both had one.
