Jannik Sinner has just completed a successful run through the Sunshine Double, adding the Indian Wells and Miami Open titles to his record.

Those victories have brought Sinner’s title count for the year up to two, with 10 singles trophies overall in his career so far.

The only others with multiple titles in 2026 are Carlos Alcaraz, who won the Australian Open and Qatar Open, and Daniil Medvedev, who took home wins in Brisbane and Dubai.

But there could soon be another Italian joining that group…

Luciano Darderi looks set to challenge for another title

Luciano Darderi, who has already appeared in two ATP finals this year, is coming off a win in Santiago after an earlier loss to Francisco Cerundolo in Buenos Aires.

The 24-year-old is now playing as the top seed at the ATP 250 Grand Prix Hassan II in Marrakech, where he’s also the defending champion. With only three top-50 players in the draw and several top-eight seeds already out, he stands a good chance of keeping his title.

Darderi received a bye into the second round and then beat fellow Italian Mattia Bellucci 6-4, 6-2. He’ll face Yannick Hanfmann next—the same player he defeated to claim the Chile Open earlier this season.

If he reaches the final again this week, it would be his fifth career appearance at that stage. His path to another trophy could include matches against Hanfmann, Corentin Moutet and Tallon Griekspoor—all solid opponents—but given current form, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Darderi lift another trophy on Sunday.

How many titles did Luciano Darderi and Jannik Sinner win last year?

Over the past year, Darderi has developed a strong knack for picking up titles. In 2025, he won three trophies, putting him alongside Sinner in the top five for most title wins that season.

Darderi has yet to capture a trophy above the ATP 250 level. If he hopes to crack the top 10 this year, he’ll need to start making deeper runs at bigger events.

He’ll head there after wrapping up his campaign in Morocco. Darderi hasn’t played there before, so he’ll be eager to make a strong first impression when he does.

Before that, though, he still has work to do in Marrakech. Darderi faces Hanfmann on Friday, April 3rd, with a place in the semi-finals on the line.
