Jiri Lehecka has reflected on his defeat to Jannik Sinner in the Miami Open final in a post on Instagram.

Lehecka reached his first Masters 1000 final in Miami, before being beaten by Sinner 6-4, 6-4.

Despite being beaten by the Italian, Lehecka believes Sinner and Alcaraz’s dominance is good for men’s tennis.

Lehecka has now sent a message to Sinner, in his first post on social media since losing in the Miami Open final.

People were already aware of Lehecka’s ability before the Miami Open, but he wasn’t expected to go that far, especially after dropping his only match at Indian Wells.

Still, his run in Miami seems to have given him a boost of confidence about what’s ahead. He also took time to acknowledge Sinner’s achievement, congratulating him on completing the Sunshine Double.

Lehecka posted on Instagram: “What a week! Hungry for more. Thank you @miamiopen and congrats for again, rewriting history of this sport @janniksin.”

This run has also seen Lehecka climb up to a career-high world ranking of 14.

What’s ahead for Lehecka after Miami?

Lehecka will be looking to keep building momentum as the clay season gets underway, and the next few weeks offer a real chance for him to climb even higher in the rankings.

With Flavio Cobolli not defending his title in Bucharest, Lehecka is already set to move up to world number 13 next week, and there’s room for more progress if he can string together some wins on clay.

Last year, Lehecka picked up 270 points during the clay swing. He could match or even beat that total early if he makes a deep run at his next event, the Monte Carlo Masters.

Lehecka has yet to get past the third round in Monte Carlo. However, he did reach the semifinals of an ATP 1000 clay event earlier this year at Madrid, showing he can put together strong runs on this surface.

His schedule includes stops in Munich and Madrid after Monte Carlo as he continues his push up the rankings during this stretch of the season.
