After a difficult start to the 2026 season, Emma Raducanu has been given some advice.
Raducanu ended her partnership with Francisco Roig after the Australian Open, just six months into their time working together.
This marked her seventh coaching change since winning the US Open in 2021. She later explained that she wasn’t actively seeking a full-time coach, instead opting to work with Mark Petchey and Alexis Canter on a more temporary basis.
Marion Bartoli advises Emma Raducanu to find a long-term coach
Since reaching the final of the Transylvania Open last month, Raducanu has only managed one win in her last four matches.
The Brit has been dealing with illness during that time, and those lingering symptoms forced her to withdraw from the Miami Open.
Bartoli spoke to Sky Sports about Raducanu’s current situation, saying she believes the 2021 US Open champion should follow a similar path to world number one Aryna Sabalenka by establishing a more stable coaching setup.
“For Emma to keep changing coaches is a difficult topic because you need to have some sort of stability,” said Bartoli. “When you look at the coaching system, Sabalenka has had the same coach for such a long period of time and I think for Emma it’s about trying to find the right fit!”
“I do strongly believe she will need to find someone she can trust for a long period of time if she wants to improve.”
Sabalenka’s team includes several important figures, but Anton Dubrov has been her head coach since 2020. Under his guidance, she has won all four of her Grand Slam titles.
What’s Next on the Schedule for Emma Raducanu?
Raducanu hasn’t played since her loss to Amanda Anisimova at Indian Wells and will now shift her focus to the clay court season.
Clay hasn’t been her strongest surface, but she did make progress last year, reaching the fourth round of the Italian Open.
She still has yet to get past the second round at Roland Garros, falling heavily to Iga Swiatek at that stage last season.
This year, Raducanu’s first event on clay will be in Linz, which begins on April 6th. Alexandra Eala is also scheduled to play there.
She’ll also take part in both the Madrid Open and the Italian Open before heading into Roland Garros.
