Jannik Sinner made history with a flawless Sunshine Double run

He has added another milestone to his rise with a dominant run across Indian Wells and Miami.

The Italian secured the Sunshine Double after beating Jiri Lehecka 6-4, 6-4 in the Miami Open final last Sunday.

That victory marked his 12th consecutive straight-sets win in singles competition.

It also confirmed one of the most efficient tournament runs the sport has seen in recent history.

Sinner’s achievement goes beyond simply winning both tournaments, placing him in unique territory in tennis history.

He became the eighth man to complete the Sunshine Double, but the first player ever to do so without dropping a single set, according to Tennis.com.

No male or female player had managed that feat since the Miami Open was founded in 1985.

Across both tournaments, Sinner controlled matches with consistency and precision, rarely allowing opponents momentum.

His straight-sets streak underlined both physical dominance and mental composure after a tough start to the season.

Joao Fonseca came close to ending Jannik Sinner’s perfect run

Despite the dominant numbers, one opponent pushed Sinner closer than any other during the campaign.

Brazilian prospect Joao Fonseca tested him in the Indian Wells round of 16, taking the match to two tie-breaks.

Sinner eventually prevailed 7-6, 7-6, but the contest was far tighter than his other victories.

In the first set, Fonseca held three set points and came within moments of ending the Italian’s flawless run.

His ability to survive that test and maintain perfection highlights the level he sustained across both events.
