Sabalenka shares her motivation after Miami Open win
Itâs been a busy month for Sabalenka, who also defeated Elena Rybakina to win Indian Wells earlier in March.
And she has since spoken about the mindset that drives her to keep pushing forward, even as the accomplishments pile up.
She told the WTA website: âWhen I lost my father, I just set up a goal that I want to put our family name in history, and thatâs been something thatâs been pushing me so hard every day to work hard, to become a better player and I also become a better person.
âThatâs my motivation, and also I would like to be an example of someone who has fun off the court, but also like super focused when Iâm competing just to show⊠I feel this is the healthiest approach.â
This balance seems to be working well for Sabalenka. She clearly enjoys life away from tennis while staying committed on it. And it hasnât hurt that sheâs earned over $2.3 million in prize money during her recent run in the United States.
The clay-court season is coming up quickly now. Sabalenka will look to carry her strong form into a surface where sheâs still building her legacy.
