Kai Trump sends message to Aryna Sabalenka ahead of Miami Open final

Aryna Sabalenka defeated Elena Rybakina, 6-4, 6-3, to reach the Miami Open final.

There, she will play Coco Gauff, who dismantled Karolina Muchova 6-1, 6-1, in the earlier semifinal.

After watching Sabalenka’s semifinal, Kai Trump, a competitive golfer and the eldest granddaughter of President Donald Trump, sent the Belarusian a message on social media.

Kai Trump ‘had so much fun’ watching Aryna Sabalenka

Trump posed for a picture with the four-time Grand Slam champion.

Sharing the picture on her Instagram story, Trump said the following.

“Had so much fun watching Aryna Sabalenka,” she said.

“Let’s get it Saturday.”

It’s clear to see who Trump is backing to win this year’s Miami Open!

But who is the favorite?

Sabalenka and Gauff have met 12 times previously on the WTA Tour.

In one of the most competitive rivalries in women’s tennis, Sabalenka and Gauff are level at 6-6 in their head-to-head.

There are, however, specific reasons for both players and their millions of fans to be hopeful.

For Gauff, she has a history of beating Sabalenka in ‘big’ matches.

Gauff defeated Sabalenka to win her first Grand Slam at the US Open three years ago, and doubled her major tally with another win over the Belarusian at last year’s French Open.

Sabalenka, on the other hand, is the undisputed world number one.

The 27-year-old has held the top spot since 2024 and can’t stop winning.

She’s the defending Miami Open champion and won Indian Wells last time out.

On form, you’d back Sabalenka to emerge victorious, but you never want to count Gauff out.

Sabalenka and Gauff will battle it out for the Miami Open trophy on Saturday, March 28.

How many women have completed the ‘Sunshine Double’?

To complete the Sunshine Double, you must win Indian Wells and the Miami Open in the same year.

In women’s tennis, four players have achieved the feat.

The first player to do so was Steffi Graf in 1994, repeating the feat two years later.

Kim Clijsters was the second, in 2005, and Victoria Azarenka was the third, in 2016.

The fourth and most recent player to complete the Sunshine Double was Sabalenka’s greatest rival, Iga Swiatek.

She defeated Maria Sakkari in the Indian Wells final and Naomi Osaka in the Miami Open final four years ago.

Sabalenka is now just one match away from adding her name to that prestigious list…
