Reilly Opelka secured a notable win over Jack Draper in the second round of the Miami Open.
The American served brilliantly throughout, taking both sets in tie-breaks to knock Draper out of the competition.
Draper remained positive despite the result. Given how long he was away from tennis, his return to the ATP Tour has been more than respectable so far.
Following his victory, Opelka spoke highly of Draperâs performance during their match.
Reilly Opelka praised Jack Draperâs game in Miami
Opelka sealed a spot in the third round against Taylor Fritz after taking down Draper in straight sets. It was a good day for him, and he didnât hesitate to give Draper credit for how he played.
The American, known for his big serve, was quick to highlight just how well Draper competed during their match on Grandstand. Speaking during his on-court interview, the American said: âIt feels good just to get through a player like Jack.â
âHeâs an amazing athlete for his size, covers the court as good as just about anybody. Heâs probably the third or fourth best player in the world when heâs healthy.â
Draper once climbed as high as number four in the world rankings before injuries set him back, and now sits outside the top 20. Meanwhile, Opelka has risen to world number 64 thanks to his form at this yearâs Miami Open.
Whatâs next for Jack Draper?
Since returning to the ATP Tour, Draper has taken part in three events so far: Dubai, Indian Wells, and the Miami Open.
Heâs already picked up some strong results, most notably his win over Novak Djokovic at Indian Wells.
With the hard-court season wrapped up, Draper is expected to move back to Europe for the start of the clay-court swing and is likely to appear at the Monte Carlo Masters.
The Brit will be defending ranking points from last yearâs third-round run there when he lost to Alejandro Davidovich Fokina.
Draper is also scheduled to play at the Barcelona Open after Monte Carlo, with that tournament set to begin on 13th April.
