At this point, tennis superstar Carlos Alcaraz’s love for golf is well-documented.

Last September, he spent a day on the links with Sergio Garcia. A month later, he played a pro-am event with another fellow Spanish star, Jon Rahm. Then just last week, one of Alcaraz’s biggest tennis rivals, Novak Djokovic, publicly praised his golf game in an interview with the Tennis Channel.

Well, Alcaraz once again performed a brief ode to the game of golf on Friday night. After defeating Brazil’s Joao Fonseca in the second round of the 2026 Miami Open, Alcaraz hit the classic golf swing celebration. We’ve seen it before, but one of the men in attendance made this one a little extra special, as Rory McIlroy was shown in the crowd, applauding Alcaraz with a big smile on his face.

Alcaraz is already a seven-time Grand Slam winner at the age of 22 (remember, in tennis, each major tournament victory is called a Grand Slam). It took McIlroy a tad longer to complete golf’s version of the career Grand Slam, although he wasn’t much older than Alcaraz is now when he won three of the four legs. He finally closed the book with a win at the Masters a year ago.

Speaking of the Masters, we’re just 19 days away from the 2026 rendition, which will also mark the next time we see Rory McIlroy on the golf course. He tweaked his back and withdrew from the Arnold Palmer Invitational earlier this month. A week later, he defended his title at the Players Championship, but struggled, narrowly making the cut and finishing tied for 46th.

Now, he’s taking a little time off before he heads back to Augusta National, opting to skip this week’s Valspar Championship and next week’s Texas Children’s Houston Open, as well as the Valero Texas Open, which many players will use as a tune-up for the Masters.

So, with some leisure time on his hands, McIlroy decided to make the trip along Florida’s First Coast from his home in Jupiter to take in the tennis festivities at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami. And he got a nice nod from the world’s best tennis player in the form of a post-match celebration.
