VCU pulled off a stunning 19-point comeback win over North Carolina in the opening round of March Madness. It couldn’t have happened without the brilliance of Lazar Djokovic, who recorded 15 points, two blocks and plenty of trash talk against Henri Veesaar and Co.
Tennis legend Novak Djokovic is no stranger to chirping his opponent either. So, you may be asking, are Lazar and Novak related?
They are not. While Lazar and Novak share the same surname and Serbian heritage, they have no other ties.
Lazar is a 6-foot-11 junior who began his college career with stops at Xavier and Charleston. This is by far his best season yet, as he’s averaging 13.6 points, 5.4 rebounds and 1.2. blocks in his first run as a full-time starter.
Novak, 38, is arguably the greatest tennis player of all time. He owns the most ever Grand Slam wins (24) and is remains as dominant as ever, ranking third in the world among singles players.
Game recognize game.
