Carlos Alcaraz began potentially another run toward what would be a third title at Indian Wells on Saturday with a 6-2, 6-3 win over Grigor Dimitrov in front of a packed crowd on Stadium Court.
Alcaraz, the top-ranked player in the world, won titles at the BNP Paribas Open in 2023 and 2024 and reached the semifinals last year, losing to eventual winner Jack Draper.
The 22-year-old Spanish tennis star is now 13-0 this year, having already won the Australian Open and another tile in Doha prior to arriving at Indian Wells.
Against Dimitrov, Alcaraz never flinched. He never broke serve and looked completely in control through the entire match.
Alcaraz will now play Arthur Rinderknech of France on Monday. Rindernech won by way of walkover against Juan Manuel Cerundolo of Argentina.
