Carlos Alcaraz’s love of golf has been well-documented in recent years, with the 22-year-old seemingly finding time to play it wherever he can.

After all, he sees it as an opportunity to relax from the stresses of his tennis career, where he is under constant scrutiny as the best player in the world.

The pressure to perform is immense, and so it must be a welcome relief to play a different sport, where results do not matter.

Naturally, being the competitor that he is, winning will always be of paramount importance to him.

That outcome might seem unlikely, however, when playing with his good friend and professional golfer Sergio Garcia.

Sergio Garcia honestly rates Carlos Alcaraz’s golf game

Speaking to TNT Sports, the Spanish golfer was asked to rate his compatriot’s level in his sport.

He laughed as he replied: “I mean
he plays. He’s pretty good. He’s only been playing for about four or five years, but I think he’s like an 11.

“He gets
yeah, he gets probably, like, one a hole. Well, you have to. Yeah. And then we play tennis, then he has to play with, you know, his legs tied and his left arm.”

Garcia has been present at many of Alcaraz’s successes, and even posed with the US Open trophy after his triumph in New York last year.

Jannik Sinner is also a big fan of golf

Golf seems to be a sport that is taking over tennis, with almost all of the top players seeking to find time during their rest days.

Alcaraz is arguably the biggest and most vocal fan, with his connection with Garcia only emphasising that further.

However, Jannik Sinner is another who has been a lover of the sport for some time.

In 2023, he claimed: “I’m really poor but I like it, it allows me to disconnect while remaining immersed in nature.

“My coach Darren Cahill plays, my father too: in Holland, in ‘s-Hertogenbosh, he drove up with clubs. I tried too. At first I didn’t understand anything, then Darren gave me two tips. I forget my cell phone and relax: there’s something different from the usual tennis.”
