Alexander Zverev has clinched doubles success on the ATP Tour, winning the title in Acapulco alongside Marcelo Melo.
Zverev and Melo compete regularly as a doubles pairing, with their record together now standing at 20-25 after their triumphant run in Mexico.
They defeated Alexander Erler and Robert Galloway 6-3, 6-4 in the Acapulco final, lifting the trophy after 69 minutes of action.
Alexander Zverev and Marcelo Melo win âspecialâ Acapulco doubles title
Zverev shared his delight at the success after the match, saying: âMarcelo has been my best friend for over 10 years now, and we finally won a tournament.
âWe have been in a couple of finals and we finally did it. So itâs special.â
His victorious partner Melo commented: âThanks to Saschaâs family, itâs amazing.
âWe have known each other for almost 10 years now, theyâre always together, supporting. Sascha, thank you to you as well.â
What doubles titles has Alexander Zverev won after Acapulco success?
Veteran Melo is now a 42-time doubles champion on the ATP Tour, having only recently emerged victorious in Rio with Joao Fonseca.
The 42-year-old is a former world number one in the format, one higher than Zverevâs career-high singles rank.
Zverev has prioritised that format throughout his entire career, although the German does now boast three doubles titles.
Both of his previous titles arrived while playing alongside his brother Mischa, which would also have been special moments for Zverev.
He now turns his focus to Indian Wells, where singles success will very much be on his agenda after he fell in the Acapulco round of 16.
It was only the second tournament that he had played in all season, with the world number four having also taken on the Australian Open.
At the first Grand Slam of 2026 in Melbourne, Zverev enjoyed a lengthy run before a heartbreaking semifinal loss to eventual champion Carlos Alcaraz.
