Emma Raducanu recently signed a deal with Japanese clothing brand Uniqlo.

Making the switch from Nike to Uniqlo, Raducanu followed in the footsteps of tennis legend Roger Federer.

The Brit travelled to Japan for the announcement, as she was unveiled as the brand’s newest ‘Global Ambassador’.

During her trip to Japan, Raducanu was asked several questions about the country, including one about arguably the nation’s greatest athlete.

Emma Raducanu says Shohei Ohtani is very humble

Raducanu was asked to share her thoughts on the MLB MVP, Shohei Ohtani.

“The baseball player? [Shohei] Ohtani,” she said.

“I have been seeing the records he’s been breaking, and also as a person, how he is, when you see him interact off the pitch.

“It’s really impressive.

“He’s very down to earth, very humble.”

Raducanu mentioned Ohtani’s record-breaking brilliance, but just how good is the 31-year-old?

In 2024, Ohtani became the first player to record a 50-home run, 50-stolen base season.

He’s also hit more home runs in a season (55), than anyone else in the history of the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Furthermore, he’s a four-time MLB MVP, five-time All-Star, and back-to-back World Series champion.

Most baseball fans agree that Ohtani is the greatest two-way player in the history of the sport.

And that he’s well on his way to becoming the greatest baseball player of all time.

Where will Emma Raducanu play next?

Raducanu struggled in the Middle East, losing her opening matches in Qatar and Dubai.

She’s scheduled to return to tennis in the United States for the two WTA 1000 events: Indian Wells and the Miami Open.

The 2021 US Open champion will compete as the 25th seed in Indian Wells.

Raducanu lost her first-round match at the 2025 Indian Wells tournament to Japan’s Moyuka Uchijima.

She’ll certainly be hoping for a better showing this time around!

Then, Raducanu will head over to Florida for the Miami Open.

It was at the Miami Open a year ago that Raducanu recorded her best-ever WTA 1000 performance.

She beat Sayaka Ishii, Emma Navarro, McCartney Kessler, and Amanda Anisimova en route to the quarterfinals.

Raducanu came close to reaching the semis, but just fell short, losing to Jessica Pegula in three sets, 4-6, 7-6, 2-6.

Only time will tell how Raducanu will perform at the ‘Sunshine Double’ tournaments in 2026

Indian Wells begins on Wednesday, March 4.
