Alex de Minaur doesnât seem interested in adding more doubles to his schedule any time soon.
The Australian, who exited the Mexican Open earlier than expected, has only appeared in one doubles match this year.
That appearance came at the United Cup, where he teamed up with Storm Hunter to pick up a win for Australia.
Despite being unbeaten so far this year in doubles play, De Minaur has spoken about why itâs not something he plans to pursue further.
Alex de Minaur explains why doubles arenât part of his regular schedule
Speaking before his opening match at the Mexican Open, where he was upset by Patrick Kypson in the first round, De Minaur took some time to answer fan questions on TikTok.
When asked about his limited doubles appearances, De Minaur was candid about his abilities.
âI donât play doubles because Iâm not great at doubles,â he said. âI get frustrated playing doubles, so yeah thatâs probably the reason why.â
While he has played one mixed doubles match this year, itâs been a while since he featured in an ATP Tour doubles draw.
The last time was at the China Open in Beijing alongside Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, where they were knocked out in the first round.
Has Alex de Minaur ever won a doubles title on the ATP Tour?
While De Minaur hasnât played much doubles in 2026, heâs no stranger to the format, having entered plenty of events over the years.
Heâs featured in every Grand Slam doubles draw but has never advanced past the second round. His sole mixed doubles appearance came alongside fiancĂ©e Katie Boulter.
The pair played together at Wimbledon but fell short of a deep run. They reached the second round before bowing out and havenât teamed up again since.
De Minaur might downplay his skills in doubles, but he does have a Masters 1000 title to his name.
He partnered Pablo Carreno Busta at the 2020 Cincinnati Open, and together they went all the way, claiming the championship.
That remains De Minaurâs only ATP title in doubles. Interestingly, it means he has more Masters 1000 wins in doubles than singles.
Despite indicating that more doubles appearances werenât on his radar, De Minaur is set to play at Indian Wells with fellow Aussie John Peers.
