Carlos Alcaraz continues to dominate men’s tennis right now, which is fitting given his adoration of the sport.

Alcaraz has played two ATP tournaments in the 2026 season so far; the Australian Open and the Qatar Open.

And the Spanish superstar has won both of those tournaments, currently boasting a 12-0 win-loss record this year.

Shortly after his latest title at the Qatar Open, Alcaraz shared insight into his relationship with the sport itself.

Carlos Alcaraz loves being a professional tennis player

Alcaraz was asked for the best part of being a professional tennis player, with money, fame and his passion for the sport offered to him as potential factors.

“Yeah, I would say it’s a mix of everything, I’m not going to lie,” he replied.

“I think, let’s say, it’s about the love of the sport, the love of what you’re doing.

“Obviously it’s my job, I get paid for playing, for going to the tournaments, winning.

“But I think there is no better feeling of doing whatever you love. I think that’s what I feel.

“Obviously, the fame comes with it, the money comes with it, but for me the most important thing is that I’m just living the life that I just love.”

As ever, it was a mature and measured response from Alcaraz, who at 22 continues to show maturity beyond his years on and off the court.

Carlos Alcaraz ‘really proud’ after maiden Qatar title

Despite his youth, Alcaraz has already achieved so much in tennis, including the career Grand Slam.

He became the youngest man to achieve the feat when he added the Australian Open title to his six other Grand Slam titles.

The Spaniard boasts two titles at each of the other three major tournaments, while he also has an Olympic silver medal to his name.

The 22-year-old just added more history to his career in Doha, winning the Qatar Open for the very first time.

Reacting to the accomplishment, he said: “Well, it feels great.

“It feels like the job is finished right now, which is great.

“It was a great week, on and off the court.

“Seeing myself accomplish all the goals that I set up for myself at the beginning of the week, it makes me really proud of myself and about my team.

“Yeah, lifting the trophy in Doha for the first time, it feels amazing.”

He now boasts ATP titles in 14 different countries, which is a record he can’t build upon when he takes on Indian Wells next.

But success is very much on the cards considering the world number one’s form and the fact that he won Indian Wells in 2023 and 2024.
