Coco Gauff cruised past Alexandra Eala in the quarterfinals of the Dubai Tennis Championships, putting together a strong performance that kept her title hopes alive.

The American took control early and never looked back, finishing off the match 6-0, 6-2 in just over an hour. The win moved her closer to what would be a fourth WTA 1000 title.

After an early exit in Doha, Gauff has quickly found her form again and looks comfortable on court this week. Her sharp play was evident from the start against Eala.

Earlier on Thursday, Jessica Pegula and Amanda Anisimova also booked their spots in the semifinals. It marked a rare sweep for American players, with all three moving through to the next round.

Pegula moved past Norway’s Clara Tauson, while Anisimova got the better of defending champion Mirra Andreeva.

Opta Ace noted that this is only the third time three Americans have made it to the semifinals of a WTA 1000 event since the format began in 2009.

The first occurrence was at the Canadian Open earlier in 2024, when Pegula, Anisimova and Emma Navarro reached the last four.

The other instance came at the China Open in 2023, with Gauff joining Pegula and Anisimova among the final four.

Pegula holds big edge in Anisimova rivalry ahead of Dubai semi-final

Jessica Pegula and Amanda Anisimova will face off in the semi-finals, with Anisimova yet to beat Pegula at this level.

Pegula has won all four of their WTA Tour meetings, holding a 4-0 lead in the head-to-head. Their first encounter was at the 2020 Cincinnati Open, where Pegula won in straight sets.

Their second meeting came four years later in Charleston, where Anisimova took the opening set but couldn’t finish the job. The two met again at the 2024 Canadian Open and most recently clashed in the quarterfinals of the 2026 Australian Open, with Pegula again taking both matches.
