Nick Kyrgios is one of the most polarising figures in tennis.

The former Wimbledon finalist is arguably better known for his on-court antics and press conference highlights than he is for his ATP Tour results.

Kyrgios has only played a handful of professional matches these last few years, but he never fails to keep himself in the headlines.

Last year, he played women’s world number one, Aryna Sabalenka, in a high-profile, ‘Battle of the Sexes’ match in Dubai, which he won.

Events like that keep people talking about Kyrgios, so much so that the Aussie got a mention in a rap song recently

Melbourne-based artists, Moses and CV, released the single ‘White Teeth’ in January.

They mentioned Kyrgios in the following lyric during the song.

“Serving like Kyrgios,” they said.

Reacting on his Instagram story, Kyrgios shared his thoughts on the mention.

“Another Kyrgios mention,” he said.

“Tough.”

Moses and CV reference Kyrgios’ serve, which is arguably his biggest weapon

How good is Nick Kyrgios’ serve?

During his last ‘full’ year on tour, Kyrgios ranked second in Serve Rating.

A score of 308.1 was calculated from his excellent stats throughout the 2022 season.

Kyrgios hit 68% of his first serves, won 78.8% of points behind his first serve, and 55.9% of points behind his second serve.

He won a tour-high 92.9% of his service games and hit a remarkable 15.9 aces per match, with just an average of 3.4 double faults.

The serve isn’t quite as effective, post-surgery, however.

During the one singles match Kyrgios played this year, he produced half the number of aces as his opponent.

While Aleksandar Kovacevic hit 10 aces in their Brisbane clash, Kyrgios only managed five.

To make matters worse, his first serve % was down at 63%.

Unsurprisingly, Kyrgios lost that match, in straight sets.

He hasn’t played another singles match since, as fans wait to see the Aussie return to action.

Perhaps he will make an appearance at the upcoming ‘Sunshine Double’ events at Indian Wells and the Miami Open.

Kyrgios played both tournaments last year, losing in the first round at Indian Wells and in the second round of Miami.

The first of the two Masters 1000 events, Indian Wells, begins on Wednesday, March 4.
